Tuna fruit (Opuntia ficus-indica)

This cactus is from 1.5 to 5 meters high and is present throughout the American continent from 0 to 3000 meters above sea level. The cochineal that lives on this cactus is used by the cosmetic and food industry to obtain the Carmine red color. Its fruit, without the shell, is delicious; in Europe, it is known as prickly pear.
